Why does a corporation need public relations? This question while it is already a cliché to some practitioners in the field is somewhat ignored in certain aspects. Because of too much familiarity with the subject matter, the pilot has lost his course without reaching his destination so to speak. As an ordinary observer, I believe public relations is crucial to any corporate entity for the following reasons:

Public relations serves as the intermediary instrument in order for the corporation to achieve its social and economic goals. This speaks for itself. A corporation which has an impressive public relations staff will not find difficulty communicating with people about their products and services and how they could be of service to their target market. Without public relations counselors, the corporation will find it hard to give their business a vantage point over other corporate entities with similar products or services offered. Hence, corporate pr must be made an integral component of management since it is impracticable to separate one from the other.

Public relations is a key to make consumerism campaign an easy effort on the part of the company. How many products have failed to sell because of poor public relations? How many instances have you observed people antagonistic to certain services because of not being able to explain well how said services can benefit the consumer? Public relations can make marketing efforts a lot easier and faster. So, there is wisdom in investing in corporate pr because all efforts are futile without clear direction of where to go and how to go about such direction.
